Dorothy Lamour (December 10, 1914 - September 22, 1996) was a motion picture actress, born around New Orleans, Louisiana, died in Hollywood, California.
Lamour's birth title was Mary Leta Dorothy Slaton; Lamour come from either the variation of the title of her step-father, Carlo Lambour. When winning a title of Miss Up to date Orleans within the beauty pageant she moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1931, hoping to become the office singer. She had the job as a chorine in the Busby Berkeley musical Footlight Parade (1933) and singing using a band of Herbie Kay, who became her 1st hubby. She besides sang on the popular Rudy Vallee radio show.
Within 1936 she moved to Hollywood and began appearing regularly around films for Paramount Pictures, first inside minor role. the role that manufactured her a star was Ulah (the kind of female Tarzan) in The Jungle Princess (1936). She bore the sarong, which would become associated by owning her, & captivated numerous viewers by using her sensuous exotic attractive appearance. When she number 1 achieved stardom as a sex symbol, Lamour also showed talent when two the comic and dramatic actress.
